Full-Time Music Therapist

Schedule, Hours and Location
We are currently hiring for a full-time, salary position, with start as early as May 15, 2024. This position will include direct service Monday-Friday. Hours are set at the beginning of each semester (January, June & September) and will vary each day, meaning some days will be 9a-5pm or 10a-6p, etc. The work week is comprised of direct client contact, office hours for planning and documentation, supervision meetings, and traveling in between clients.
Responsibilities, Populations & Types of Sessions
As a member of our team, you will be expected to provide individual and group music therapy sessions to children and adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, neurological needs, behavioral needs, etc. You will be expected to write treatment plans, keep accurate data, write clinical reports, and ensure that client schedules are maintained. You will participate in treatment team meetings, assist with team functions including marketing events, and complete general administrative tasks such as keeping your time sheet and recording student attendance.
The biggest populations served at Beyond Words include children diagnosed with Autism and Down Syndrome - specifically with communication and/or behavioral needs - however, we also service young children in preschools/day schools and adults with developmental disabilities within a group home or day program setting. Our services are balanced between group (schools & day programs) and individual settings (in studio & at students home).
Compensation and Benefits
Based on experience, this position is for salary employment ranging from $45-50K. We are proud to offer our employees a benefits package valued over $17K.

You have at least two years experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities.
You appreciate receiving and giving feedback to others and growing as a team.
You are confident in your music skills and professional skills.
You are comfortable commuting to your sessions and you have reliable transportation.
You are committed to growing your clinical skills.
You can effectively communicate in written and spoken English.
You are a strong clinical writer.
You can work independently and seamlessly transition to a group model.
You are able to balance your work and your personal life, actively using self-care strategies.
You understand the nature of private practice and are flexible to changes necessary for your clients.
This position is NOT for you if...
You are not willing to commit to a minimum of a year of service. We need someone to grow with us that we can help support professionally and who wants to make a strong difference in our clients’ lives.
You constantly have “last minute” things that pop up.
The thought of asking a question to a supervisor makes you nervous.
You are not comfortable with traveling to your appointments.
You are disorganized or believe private practice is a “starter or transitional job”.
