BOARD CERTIFIED MUSIC THERAPIST (MT-BC) & ADAPTED DANCE INSTRUCTOR

As a founder of Beyond Words, Erin is passionate about bringing music and dance to children of ANY ability. She specializes in behavior management, sensory integration, presuming students’ intellect and positive reinforcement techniques and trains music therapists with how to incorporate these principles into their practice. Erin obtained her Bachelors of Music Therapy (BMT) at Eastern Michigan University with a major in Dance Performance. Prior to opening Beyond Words, she was a music therapist at non-profit company for 5 years, then found her niche for children with autism and behavior management at STEPS Center for Autism. Erin has been studying dance since the age of 3 and teaching traditional and adapted dance classes since 2006.

EMILY KREIDER

ADAPTED DANCE SUPERVISOR

Emily graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelors of Science in Mild to Moderate Special education, with a concentration in language arts and social studies, and a minor in dance education. She is also a member of Alpha Xi Delta (whose national philanthropy is Autism Speaks) and was also chosen to be a member of a leadership fraternity on campus. During the day, Emily is an Intervention Specialist at the Julie Billiart School in Akron. She has been dancing for 18 years and teaching dance for 9 of those years. Prior to Beyond Words, Emily was the lead dance instructor at a local non-profit social club for children with autism. After school, she teaches our adapted dance program at the North Royalton studio.

MARSHA JAPUTRA

MUSIC THERAPY SUPERVISOR

BOARD CERTIFIED MUSIC THERAPIST (MT-BC)

Marsha is a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC). She received her Bachelor’s of Music in Music Therapy from University of Dayton in Dayton, OH, where violin was her primary instrument . She completed her internship at Bridgeway Academy in Columbus, OH, working with individuals of various ages with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. During the day, Marsha leads music therapy groups at schools for children and agencies for adults. After school, she sees students at the North Royalton, Avon and Highland Heights studios.

ELIZABETH KAHLER

BOARD CERTIFIED MUSIC THERAPIST (MT-BC)

Elizabeth graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a B.M. in Music Therapy. She completed her internship at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare in Florida, where she worked with children and adult patients in all hospital units. Prior to Beyond Words, she was a music program director for a summer camp for children and adults with special needs. During the day, Elizabeth leads music therapy groups at schools and then leads individual sessions for students at the North Royalton and Highland Heights studios.

OLIVIA RAYBURN

MUSIC THERAPY INTERN FOR 2020-21

Olivia has completed her coursework at Baldwin Wallace University. Our university affiliate internship program, in affiliation with the Cleveland Music Therapy Consortium, is the last step to sitting for the Board Exam and includes at least 1040 hours which she will complete at the end of April 2021. She is currently co-leading sessions in the community and at the Highland Heights, Medina and North Royalton studios with our Music Therapists, as well as leading music therapy training groups virtually and at our North Royalton studio to practice her emerging skills.

In May, She will be staying at Beyond Words and sitting for her Music Therapy Certification Board Exam. She will start seeing students this summer!

MAGGIE CALABRESE

BOARD CERTIFIED MUSIC THERAPIST (MT-BC)

Maggie received her Bachelor’s of Science in Music Therapy and Bachelor’s of Arts in Applied Music from SUNY Fredonia, where her primary instrument was percussion. She has also studied traditional West African drumming and dance in Ghana, West Africa. Before coming to Beyond Words, she completed her internship at Hudson Valley Hospice in New York, where she worked with hospice patients and their families. She’s excited to join the wonderful Beyond Words team in May 2021!”

MELAINA KAMPF

ADAPTED DANCE INSTRUCTOR

Melaina began her ballet training at the age of four with the School of Cleveland San Jose Ballet and also studied modern and contemporary dance. At the age of sixteen she joined Dancing Wheels, as the youngest Trainee in their history. She quickly rose through the ranks to become their Principle Dancer and later served as an Instructor and School Administrator for the School of Dancing Wheels, where she conducted weekly dance classes, workshops, master classes and summer camps nationally for students with and without disabilities. She currently teaches at local traditional studios, as well as is the Assistant Director of North Pointe Ballet. Melaina teaches our adapted dance classes in the community, at the North Royalton studio and virtually.

AVERY JESTER

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Avery is currently studying Speech-Language Pathology at Cleveland State University. Her office is at the North Royalton studio and she is available to meet with you - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3-7pm.

Hailie is currently studying Middle Childhood Education at Cleveland State University and finishing her last semester of student teaching at St. Albert the Great. Her office is at the North Royalton studio and she is available to meet with you on Wednesdays 4:30-6:30pm.

MUSIC THERAPY INTERN FOR 2021-22

Ellen has completed her coursework at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Her last step to sitting for the Music Therapy Certification Board Exam is an internship with at least 1040 hours through our University-Affiliate Internship Program. She'll be training with Beyond Words from October 2021-May 2022 in our Music Therapy and Adapted Dance Programs.
